Welcome to the Tongan Community at Martin UMC!

We will be collecting the following items:

  • Water, Sanitation and Hygiene:  While CDP does not recommend importing bottled water to a disaster zone, especially in an island setting, there will be a need for water desalination, clean out of water infrastructure and delivery of tanks of water until other systems are established. Water infrastructure and sewage will be affected, so sanitation and hygiene will also need to be supported.

    • Cases of water or Gatorade cold mixer (Kool-Aid etc.)

    • Shampoo and conditioner

    • Soap, body wash and lotion

    • Toothpaste and toothbrush

  • Food/supplies/emergency relief items:  Stores are already reporting that they are running short on food and supplies, so emergency relief items will likely be needed.

    • First Aid kits (lots of bandages, any kinds, and antiseptics)

    • Safety glasses

    • Tea, instant coffee mix, hot chocolate mix, creamers

    • Sugar, rice, floor

    • Ramen noodles, can soup, can foods

    • Paper and style foam plate & bowl, cups, plastic spoon and fork

    • Plate, forks, spoon

    • Toilet paper, hand towels or napkins

    • Women’s hygiene items (pads)

    • Gloves and masks

    • Laundry detergents and fabric softeners (liquid only)

    • Brooms, dusters, heavy duty brushes

    • Trashcans and trash bag (any size)

    • Rainboots (any sizes up to size 14)

Supplies can be dropped off at Martin UMC (2621 Bedford Rd, Bedford TX 76021) during normal business hours, and checks can be mailed to the same address with “Tonga” written in the memo line. If you’d prefer to donate electronically, click on the link in the top left of this page marked “Click to give online," and please put “Tonga” in the memo line. We ask that all donations be dropped off/made by Feb. 18.

Thank you for your continued prayers, and help!
